The Fall 2011 semester is just about to start, and stkbuzz has officially launched just in time. I got a lot of feedback from the beta; over the summer, I took the site down and worked on it over the course of several weeks, and I made a bunch of changes that you’ll hopefully like! The changes include:
- Usernames have replaced real names (you’ll be able to pick one when you log in)
- Private messaging
- User search
- A bunch of little things, like the remember me checkbox
Thanks to everyone who signed up during the beta! As always, feel free to contact me with any feedback. Good luck this semester, and more importantly, have fun <3
Yep, I took the site down for a few hours today to move it onto a shiny new VPS. Awesome, right? Anyway, it’s back now, and everything should be as it was. If you find something weird, let me know.
The site’s only been up for a few days, but since the launch I’ve felt like it’s missing something - something that will get people to come to the site and then actually come back again later. I’ve been thinking about it, and I might have figured it out. Keyword: might. Either way, this should be interesting.
Today, the wristband brigade and I roamed the halls of the main complex, assaulting innocent bystanders with stkbuzz.com wristbands to the face. I’d say it went well! It was a lot of fun. If you got one, hold onto it, or better yet, wear it around! There might be an extra something in it for you if you get caught wearing one by me or one of the mods.
Anyway… yeah, there’s been some technical difficulties with the site, and it hasn’t even been a full day yet. In particular, there was a problem where IE users couldn’t upload profile pics (fixed), and an issue where new posts that weren’t tagged with a second category wouldn’t show up on the news feed (fixed, I think; couldn’t reproduce it myself so I don’t know for sure, but I duct-tape-and-bubble-gummed it so that it should work no matter what).
More to come soon. Stay tuned!
PS. Rumor has it that it might rain tonight at Greek Sing. And by rain, I mean rain WRISTBANDS.
